time to spray again

well, it's been an eventful week.  i know i haven't posted about my reunion yet - it took me a few days to recover - but i'm working on it.

to recap - the sunday night before my reunion, i woke up with strep throat again.  saw the doc monday, started amox, but spent 2 days sleeping.  felt better by friday though, so went for the weekend away.  missed the kids and troy terribly, decided i don't like vacationing on my own.   i teared up talking to them on the phone saturday.  but i had fun, and made it home safely.

fast forward three days to wednesday morning.  i put a pair of jean shorts on and felt a sharp prick on my thigh.  didn't think anything of it.

a few hours later, i grabbed a diaper from the cabinet and there was a spider on it.  i squealed, tossed it down, and then captured the spider in a jar after poking it with a pencil.  it was a brown recluse.  you see where this is going, don't you?

thursday morning

i got bit that morning.  and as the day went on, it grew from a quarter size to a baseball size.  by bed it was softball size.  the next morning i went to urgent care and got prednisone and super antibiotics.  it continued to grow up my leg and started to itch.

friday morning

so yesterday i saw my doc, and he said i was having an allergic reaction to the bite.  so now i'm on benedryl, and a steroid cream, and the pred. and antib.  and i have to check back after the weekend, just to follow up.

saturday morning

that damn spider has cost me $60 so far, and i still have to go back monday!  the good news is it seems to be getting better, even if it doesn't look it.  the bad news is that benedryl wipes me out, so i am getting nowhere on anything i'd like to be doing!  i have a baby shower to go to this afternoon, and we have a pool party to go to tonight, for the kid's summer reading party.  don't you want to swim with me and my leper leg?  also, the antib makes me extra sensitive to the sun - as if i'm not already - so i will be wearing a coverup too.  ugh.  this summer has tried to kill me i swear.  strep twice, and a wheezing allergic reaction to ???, and now a spider bite.  wtf?!
